Aside from August is the anniversary month of our online store and the birth month of two of my favorite uncles Esmeraldo (Dodo) and Eufronio (Lolong) Reforeal and my brother Harold as well, we are expecting at least four non-working holidays to be observed in  especially in Cebu.  Two of which will fall on long weekends.

Here are the dates to remember for us to plan our much needed rest.

International Beer Day is observed on August 02, 2019. It is celebrated on the first Friday of every August. International Beer Day (IBD) was founded in 2007 in Santa Cruz, California. Since its inception, International Beer Day has grown from a small localized event in the western United States into a worldwide celebration spanning 207 cities, 50 countries and 6 continents.

World Cat Day

It’s all about cats on August 08, 2019 because it’s World Cat Day or International Cat Day. It had been proclaimed by the International Fund of Animal Welfare and is coordinated by divers animal welfare organizations all over the world. The goal of the happening is to increase the public’s awareness for the needs of cats. The exhortation for species-appropriate keeping and the fighting of neglect and abuse are a major issue, too. On World Cat Day cats receive special delicious food or other gifts that they like.

Book Lover's Day is observed on August 09, 2019. It's a day for those who love to read. Just take a great book and relax by reading it. Bibliophilia or bibliophilism is the love of books. Accordingly a bibliophile is an individual who loves books. A bookworm is someone who loves books for their content, or who otherwise loves reading. A bibliophile may be, but is not necessarily, a book collector.

International Lefthanders Day

International Lefthanders Day is celebrated on August 13, 2019. It was first observed 13 August 1976. As its name suggests, it is meant to promote awareness of the inconveniences facing left-handers in a predominantly right-handed world. It celebrates the left-handers, who are from seven to ten percent of the world's population.  International Lefthanders Day was founded by the Left-Handers Club in 1992, with the club itself having been founded in 1990.

Women's Equality Day (USA)

Women in the United States were given the right to vote on August 26, 1920 when the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was signed. The amendment was first introduced many years earlier in 1878. Every president has published a proclamation for Women's Equality Day since 1971 when legislation was first introduced in Congress by Bella Abzug. This resolution was passed designating August 26 of each year as Women's Equality Day. Although it is being celebrated in the US, several countries had followed to give importance to this cause.
