We’re glad that I was able to participate in this year’s Gabii sa Kabilin with my kids Carl and Candice. Marissa was not able to come with us because of her job. Gabii sa Kabilin which means “A Night of Heritage” held every May is an annual event being organized by Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) Culture and Heritage Unit in partnership with participating Local Government Units (LGUs). The organizers aim to bring Cebu’s beautiful history and culture to Cebuanos and tourists. With just one ticket, people get to visit museums and heritage sites for one night from 6PM to 12MN.

Participating sites were:

  1. Archdiocesan Museum of Cebu – Cebu City
  2. Archdiocesan Shrine of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – Cebu City
  3. Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Naval Ship – Aduana, Cebu City
  4. Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño Museum – Cebu City
  5. Casa Gorordo Museum – Cebu City
  6. Cebu Provincial Capitol – Cebu City
  7. Fo Guang Shan Chu Un Temple – Cebu City

  16. Talisay City College
  17. Mandaue Precidencia
  18. Mactan Shrine

This year’s theme was “Setting Sail” to celebrate the beginning of Ferdinand Magellan’s journey and eventually circumnavigated the earth; the journey wherein they discovered our country.

Although we were not able to visit all the 18 sites, we really enjoyed the night especially our visit at the AFP’s Naval Ship, which was their first time participating GSK
